How to Sign A Letter On Someone Else’s Behalf

Per Procurationem

Per Procurationem, denoted as “p.p.”, communicates that the signature was made by another party on behalf of the other person. This is often used in business transactions, or business affairs, where staff sign on behalf of a governing person. To do so, one must place the pp. In front of their own name, and the name of the person who is being signed for underneath.

Power of Attorney

A power of attorney is an individual who has been appointed on behalf of an incapacitated or diseased person to sign on their behalf – legally, as them. This appointment happens ahead of time so that affairs can be handled once an individual no longer has the capacity to deal with their own legal matters.

Signing on Behalf of a Minor

Children under 18 years of age will require their legal guardian to sign on their behalf.
